The Company has been formed to facilitate economy in cost of power & Energy management for Indian Railways through Open Access, by synergising the technical resource base of both the organizations i.e. Ministry of Railways & RITES Ltd.
The Company owns a 26 MW Windmill plant at Dangri, Jaisalmer. It has also set up National Energy Management Centre (NEMC) at its premises in New Delhi to facilitate Load forecasting & Scheduling for Railways.
It is the Nodal Agency to facilitate & implement Indian Railways target of “Mission Net Zero Carbon Emission by 2030”.
Business Areas of the company.
- To facilitate Open Access & complete Power Planning & Portfolio Management for Indian Railways.
- Bid Processing for Procurement of Thermal /Renewable/Nuclear Power for Indian Railways on long/medium term basis.
- Liaison with Central/State Power Utilities to facilitate Open Access for Railways and act as a single window service provider for issues related to grant of Connectivity, Network access & Power Scheduling, etc.
- Provides Consultancy/Advisory to Railways on Regulatory issues & facilitate representation of Railways before Regulatory Commissions and other statutory bodies through its empanelled Advocates.
- Conduct research & prepare consultancy reports on related matters in association with academic institutions and consultancy firms.
